It is about 7 friggin’ months since I last blogged. Yes that long ago! Yet now this blog is turning 2 years old next month and I have to admit, life took a toll on me, I simply lost my interest in blogging. Can I still be able to revive this long lost interest? Perhaps I should ask Paul The Octopus.
I envisaged a clear picture in my mind when I first created my first dot com, this should be the place I share my 2 cents and lousy thoughts to the virtual community. Forking out a few bucks initially to join the hype of owning a dot com, the feeling is just like buying a property (but of course in a very much smaller scale!). Then how you decorate it to make it feel as comfortable for you and so on… then I started making some small time pennies thru website reviews and some sponsorship, that’s where I made hell lotsa online buddies. Photography stepped in when Dear bought me a DSLR and that’s when you could see those mouth watering pics of food we savoured to the very last drop in my blog. Those were the days back in my uni life!
What about now? What about today?
I don’t even remember my wordpress admin password and login URL until somehow I tried countless time to get it sorted out. Got myself thinking, I’m so rusted. Emo sikit :p
Since I began my chapter of career, things started to look different. From study mode to working mode, from entertainment life without worries to survival life hoping to make ends meet. No joke, slowly I started to forget those little things in life until today. What’s more when seeing my friends one by one getting married and building family of their own… Ain’t things getting any more serious than this? I say it’s a lil scary man.
Well, what else do I longed and missed doing in the past year? Travelling! Yup, as you might agree, my last blog about vacation was at Macao, almost 2 years back and believe me, I’m feeling bad too turning down countless travelling invites. But I guess for me, I’ll put this further back in my priority list for the time being and I’d focus on more important things that I would want to achieve within the next 2-3 years.
“Where’s all your food blog posts?”
“When are you gonna go back to your 8-minute abs crunches and your 3x per week 5km jogs?”
“Bila nak pi ciak ho liao?”
Sounds a bit like history isn’t it? Anyway I’ve renewed my web hosting for this site and fingers crossed I shall find time to blog it all out!

This blog post is meant for Dearest’s birthday celebration with bosom buddies in Penang. Yes, that was supposed to be an August blog post. Look at how backdated I was… imagine how many blog posts do I have for you guys, LOL.
The place: Chilli Corner Restaurant
Where? 10, Nagore Road, Penang
Dunno where is it? Near New World Park!
Weblink? <<Click Here>>
Contacts: (O) 04 226 2940, (HP) 013 437 2775
Hmm, how to begin? Totally forgotten how to write.. gosh! Harr! This place is owned by Madame Dexterous’s parent and they serve seriously delicious (and spicy!) Thai food. I ‘ve been visiting this place for quite some time but I never realize that I am a patron of my friend’s parent’s restaurant. Small world.

Why is this place so special? A point that I will not miss is that they serve really fresh seafood. From what I know, the boss oftenly go on boat trips for the seafood himself. I guess that explains it all. If you’re looking for nice fish dishes etc, this is the place to be.

Don’t believe it? Simple, upon visiting this restaurant you’ll see a lot of pictures of his fishing expeditions, memorabilia of fishing gears, jaws of big fishes etc. It’s amazing.

Well Nagore Road is a nice street filled with nicely refurbished old buildings and I bet it is a nice attraction for foreign tourists as well. Chilli Corner Restaurant is one of them and definitely one that you wouldn’t want to miss.
Let’s go to the food, shall we?

The appetiser platter - Kacang Botol, Cucumber and Long Beans with sambal. The sambal rocks, big time!

This one is definitely the highlight of the whole course dinner. Extremely fresh fish steamed to perfection in Thai Style. Awesome.

Actually, it has been so backdated til I lost the receipt of this meal. So I can’t really provide the pricing list as well as accurate name of the dish. This particular one is Chicken with Long Beans in light sauce.

Kerabu Squid with Glass Noodles.

My favourite - Tom Yam Goong. I bet this is one of the most spicy Tom Yam in Penang, with large prawns!

A healthy diet comes with lots of vege right? Kai Lan for dinner!

… and also some Sambal Kacang Botol.

Is it called Pad Phet? It’s Crab stuffed with Chicken. Quite a complete meal huh?

To top it off, we had another birthday cake for the princess, Peach Mille Crepe this time.

and the Four Seasons reunited.

The Venturez and the Seasons too! Welcoming another addition to our network of friend, the newly-wed Ah Hin and Pling!

Making it happen, everyday… Just for you!

Life has taken a slight twist that made Desmond-t being absent for so long from the blogging scene.
Stay tuned for lots of posts coming up…
Just a little bit to add, Desmond-t is sincerely begging your pardon for not being able to follow up with all your valuable comments and feedbacks recently. I’d personally thank all of you for all our warm wishes and it is always my great pleasure to bring to you all my favourites places to dine.
However, these food reviews are just my suggestions and all my reviews are purely based on my on perception on the food and the place itself, as I’m not being paid to do food reviews etc. So, I really appreciate your comments, even though some of you might have different taste for food.
Yes, many would have suggested that I post more on healthier food reviews and more hygienic place to dine. I couldn’t agree more that all of us need to consume clean and maintain a healthy diet. Well, for this case, do excuse myself as I really, really am looking for food that tantalized my taste buds to the max. Maybe for now, period So, do keep up with me if you’re really keen to savour much of the delicacies, once a while would satisfy our ”lust” for good food, huh?

Yeap, this is meant to be Dear’s birthday celebration Part II, which mom decided to treat her lunch. Location was Canton-i at Queensbay Mall, Penang. It was such a hectic weekend whereby we need to meet up with family and friends for her birthday celebrations and of course spend some quality time with Penang food.
Kinda rush though, let’s allow the pictures to do all the talking as I do not record much of the resources and information during my visit to Canton-i. By the way, the restaurant does now allow any sort of photography though. So, I just manage to capture from the outside of the shop and some pics on the food itself. I just… don’t understand why!

Pretty ordinary and cozy restaurant in the inside. Not much of a design to copy either, yet they don’t allow photography. I thought there were many artsy copyrights at first! So, all I have is food and drinks from Canton-i.

Drinks from left to right: Flowering Red Amaranth, Hawaiian Coffee, Combo Mix Fruit Juice and ”Yin Yeung” Coffee with Tea.

The so-called Char Siew + Siew Yuk Fan a.k.a Roast Pork & Roast Pork Belly Rice. Trust me, they serve one of the best Siew Yuk @ Roast Pork Belly in town. My words could not describe how tender it was! Awesome!

Jellyfish with Cuttlefish Combination.

Lor Eggs, Taufu and Chicken Wings as side dishes.

Stir-fried Rice Noodles with Sliced Beef. It seems pretty ordinary but I highly recommends this dish as well. The rice noodles are special in a way that it is not so oily if compared to other Penang Koay Teow though.

This one needs no further explaination. Their Signature Prawn Wan Than Noodles. Their Wan Than tops the chart, as expected. Multiple prawns in each wan than! Imagine that in your mouth!

”Theng Chai Chok”… totally forgotten how t odescribe this congee in English. Oops!

The ever joyous and delightful girl. She finally had her first Siew Yuk! An achievement for a non-pork eater.
All in all, Canton-i really bring to us Malaysian some taste of the best of Chinese cuisine of which is comparable to those in China and Hong Kong. I have to say that it is pricey though but I bet it is definitely worth the money for each bite that i savoured.
It’s simply yummylicious!

I shall kick off the first part (of four) birthday celebrations I had with my dearest. First stop - Sanook, Plaza Kelana Jaya. It’s a nice place, no doubt about that. Many of you would have known and seen blogs mentioning this place and I shall just go to the wide selection of food alrite?

I simply love their ambience. The lakeside restaurant is one of a kind. That means you can really take a nice range of photo from the reflection of the lake water. Plus the restaurant itself is pretty well decorated and designed.

3 weeks without an update huh? Well, it’s been a long 3 weeks for me. While I began my new chapter of life working in a new company, everything has changed to the very little details. Working life has so much to offer and I am starting to feel time and money is not enough.
4 massive birthday celebrations with dearest blogpost are coming up next but for now, let me get to you with this Euro Deli Grill at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng (Behind Public Bank Tower, off KLCC). So it was supposed to be a double birthday celebration for Swee Heng and Jian Huat, this place came to my mind and off we went for a try out.

Orange is the theme of the restaurant. Euro Deli Grill is a German-Swiss restaurant which serves one of the best pork knuckles and German Sausages in town. Don’t get me wrong, they serve really good sausages! Read the rest of this entry »

Many floggers have blogged about this restaurant. Now, it’s my turn to give my 2 cents for this highly rated and popular Thai cuisine restaurant in Seksyen 17, Petaling Jaya. As you guys always notice, myself and my the other half are always hunting for new-cheap-delicious eateries all over the place and so happen when we found out about this place.

A meal for two, you usually can’t find a lot of variety for sure. Yet, one or two main dishes could normally conclude whether it is worth visiting the restaurant. For more info about this restaurant, surf their very own restaurant’s website here. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m kicking off with the new series of PJ Food Guide, after 4 years of food hunting as a student from University of Malaya. With this, I hope the new batch of students would have a greater picture of food around UM and PJ itself. On the other hand, to those who wish to hunt something light to fill your tummy or eating out in PJ, you are at the right post.
So, where is cheap and affordable to eat? That is for sure a common yet top priority question for students (well, at least for me!), although I know students nowadays like to go to fast food outlets or even restaurants even for an ordinary meal. Lavish… but not me.

First stop, Chuan Lee Restaurant, Jalan Bukit 11/2. The best way to describe the location is of course the same road down the hill at University Towers (UT). As you go down hill, the last shop on the row of shop houses on your left is the exact destination. Usually packed during lunch hours, it is a ideal location for students and working class people. Cheap hawker food with reasonably big portion can satisfy your gluttony at least for lunch. Read the rest of this entry »

Let’s get back to KL, shall we? A little switch of tastebuds and we’re off to Kuchai Lama this time for my new found favourite. If you’d remember Chicken Hot Pot Restaurant, this shop that I’m gonna introduce to you is just around the corner too.

Introducing… Ah Soon’s Fish Head Mee at Winsoon Cafe, Kuchai Lama. This time we do it the KL style. The fish head noodle is exactly the milkish and sour type, which differs from the clear soup style we have in Penang. Being a lover of sour and spicy food, this is what I have been craving for in KL! Siddique, here you go! Sorry for the delay bro… Hope this post can drive you all the way to Penang for some taste of the legendary Nasi Kandar! More posts today!
What’s next? Let me bring to you my all-time-favourite Nasi Kandar or Nasi Melayu from Penang. The stall which serves arguably the best Nasi Kandar that I have been savouring the last 17 years. That’s really close to where I stay, yes it is Nasi Kandar Kampung Melayu. For health reasons, you might stomp at me for suggesting a Nasi Kandar place to eat for breakfast… but heck! I just eat because it taste so good and I will never miss it unless I fall sick, to be honest.

Still have a very clear picture in my mind, how I sacrificed my sleeping hours by waking up early just to “tapao” nasi kandar to school as my breakfast. By 6.30 a.m, it was already a long queue in the line! Well, things changed. They now operate another stall for the night session too at Medan Selera Farlim (if I am not wrong, it’s the one opposite Shell and Sin Kang School).

Well, you’ll anticipate a lot of students and working class people eating there on the weekdays and on the weekends, the queue lines are endless. Nevertheless they are efficient and you don’t have to wait long either. Unlike the Classic Hokkien Mee in Dato Keramat, dang! Nowadays, everytime I go back to Penang and if time permits, I’ll savour a plateful of Nasi Kandar Basah at around 10 a.m. Although it’s kinda near to their closing time, it’s still good despite lesser choice of dish.
