Festivita Food Court and The Venetian Macao
Posted by: desmond-t in Activities, Food, TravelDesmond-t is a man of his word. At least he is now posting about his trip, although it was so long ago…
Still fresh in his memory, he was there at The Venetian Macao on the 1st of July, 2008. Coincidently, it was the National Day of Hong Kong.
He never realized that it was a super-peak-season at that time. Gosh, all the “demi-gods” alike businessmen were already all guns blazing to slit all the tourists’ throats. Prices were unseemingly “expensive”. What’s more when it’s in a 99-star resort hotel? Hmm, you figure it out how much it costs for a bowl of Wan Than Mee in the Venetian Food Festivita a.k.a Food Court.
A whopping RM40 for god’s sake! Further thanks to our “strong” currency and so-called economic stability. Erm, that makes the food even more tantalizing than usual. Enough said.
This combo of Chee Cheong Fun and Chicken Congee cost approximately RM 50!
The Venetian is certainly a landmark not to be missed in the Land of Macao - Heavens of Casinos. They claimed to have the largest casino resort in the world with world class facilities. Yet, they do have world class GROs too… straying all around the casinos as well, dressed up extremely sexy and luring they clients from table to table.
Desmond-t was lucky enough to have his brother’s friend, who is a Concierge Manager at The Venetian. This indirectly implied he enjoyed an undisclosed amount of discount for his upgraded luxurious suite/villa. He got astounded by his room. A suite with 2 queen beds with business table equiped with fax/printer, a 40″ LCD TV, a 29″ TV, Jasmine Salted Bath Tub and a super spacious hall. It was meant to be around RM1000-RM1500 per night rate. By far the best hotel he has been thus far.
The concept of The Venetian is simple. It is simply imitating the city of Venice (Venezia) near Rome in Italy. All are practically the same, just the The Venetian is all indoors. The sculptures, arches, design, canals and shops resemble almost 100% of the actual Venice. That’s what he has googled up to my knowledge, though he has never been to Venice before.
The gondola ride was fantastic. The boatmen were as just as fantastic. 100% imported from Venice, they sang to their hearts to entertain the passengers with their melodious voice echoing the canal. Awesome it was.
Shopping? You name the designer brand, you’ll got it! The Venetian is like a hub of all branded shops. Salvatore Ferragamo? Gucci? Prada? Louis Vuitton? It is a matter of $$$ that makes you possible to shop there.
Travel tips? Hmm… The Venetian is indeed made to attract the rich and the famous… Of cos with the extreme high standard of living in Hong Kong and Macao, the people can afford to go there very often for a short vacation.
Certainly, it is indeed a big eye-opener for me to witness such a luxury and rich&famous lifestyle. I’ve never seen people gamble so whole heartedly. Some casinos were like the road side stalls in China whereby people were shouting their salivas out to win some penny. However, there were some high class zone too. Those people threw hundreds of thousands HKD just for one hand. That’s casual gambling for them!
The Venetian offers very comfortable accomodation at a very “low rate” as compared to their food and shopping rates. Desmond-t simply like the Jasmine Salted Bath Tub, which was pretty much relaxing! For photographers, I bet you’d take terabytes of countless memories back from the resort hotel.
