*Update* Desmond-t will be posting his X’mas food entries within this few days.

After reading about so many German food post from fellow food bloggers a.k.a “Floggers” throughout the web, I can’t help but to post my very own version of German food entry. I have not been to any of the famous local German restaurants yet, be it at Ingolf Kneipe in Penang, or the Bavarian Bierhaus at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara.

But one thing is for sure, the delighting taste of the German food from this very special restaurant in Sydney still lingers in my memories. Although it’s been close to 3 years, this backdated post is still my best experience of a German dining. Let’s go to the Löwenbräu Keller Restaurant at The Rocks, Sydney, Australia!

Over there, you will enjoy a great ambience of German culture with those amazing German bands singing to the rhythm. One thing that you will never miss at any German restaurant is of course none other than their specially brewed beer. You’ll be seeing the hot Claudia Schiffer look-alike waitress serving mugs and mugs of beer to the patrons. What a sight!

You must be wondering why do I have to go all the way to Australia and be eating German food instead of their local cuisine, right? Hmm, perhaps you may also already got the idea that I was actually there for the ”Bier” instead! Indeed, Löwenbräu Keller is renowned for their home-brewed beer and of course, their German food.

This is the Oven Roasted Pork Knuckle with Sauerkraut (otherwise known as Schweinshaxn), together with my favourite mango flavoured Franziskaner Weissbier. It was my first time having the whole knuckle by myself and I took almost 45 minutes to finish it. Of course, enjoying myself with the great German band performance while slurping down the pale wheatbeer.

It actually summed up my whole German food highlight. The pork knuckle was roasted to perfection, I still can recall how crunchy it was! Not forgetting the beer… the only time I ever tasted a mango blend of beer. Below is the rest of the food ordered by my friends, surprisingly, no German sausages hehe!

Tenderloin Steak served with Potato Wedges. A rather western delight. Medium done.

Sirloin Steak.

In case you do not know where is the exact location, you should just browse through their very own website. It is strategically located somewhere near to Darling Harbour and the famous Opera House. If you are at these landmark, you are very close to this restaurant already.

Guten Appetit!

p/s: If you’re looking for more info about the German beer, fret not cos I’ll bring to you more about beers from Brussels Cafe in my future beer blog entry.
