First of all, I just wanna say Malaysia memang boleh. Slowmyx is really keeping me frustrated with their incredible speed… It took me 30 minutes just to load Google’s main page. How about that for a RM99 per month service I have to pay every month? Even better, my web host - TapakWeb is giving me insanely godlike services with downtime more than you can ever imagine. My website and mail servers are running as usual but it could be down for the next 24 hrs for no reasons. Worst is when they actually suspended my account saying that I did not pay up and asking me to contact billing/support staff that does not exist! Thumbs up Malaysia!

Now let’s go back to the food, shall we? My sincere apologies for the backdated posts that’s coming up within these few days. This time around I’ll be bring you guys an in depth focus of food in PJ, the famous hangout places for UM students. Begin with this special beef noodles from Uncle Cheng, from Kluang, Johor.

Located at Restaurant Khasiat, Seksyen 17, it is just somewhere close to Restaurant How Yee Kee and Kim Seng Cafe. Uncle Julian Cheng operated this stall, speaking real cool English with a motto:

Why bring home a cow? Let our special noodle do the moo!

Let’s check it out what he’s got to offer!

This is exactly where you are going to head - Restaurant Khasiat. It is just behind Shell at Seksyen 17 and the lower tier behind Happy Mansion.

Exactly the first stall on the outer segment of the restaurant is Uncle Cheng’s Special Beef Noodle stall. As you would have realized, he has featured in the local newpapers as well.

Basically, there’s two types of Beef Noodles: the Dry and the Soupy ones. Uncle Cheng’s personal offer was the dry one. He claimed that most of his customers prefer the dried beef noodles. It comes with a an extra bowl of soup though. Both are equally priced at RM7.

The Dried Beef Noodle. The soup can be replenished upon request.

An upclose look on the side toppings. Beef, some “cow intestines”, beef balls, nuts with the special noodle. It looked like “lai fun” to me… some sort of noodle equivalent to the ones we have with Laksa.

The soupy version of the beef noodle. This was taken when I managed to “take away” on my 3rd visit.

Overall, the specialty I would say is the noodle itself. It really mix well with the sauce in the Dried bowl of noodle. Sticky but smooth - sticky smooth, not silky smooth. LOL

The beef is fresh and succulent too. Some of you guys would skip the “intestines” though, but I kinda like it. It is not much, but fairly to say, the chilly sauce complemented the beef and the noodles. The bottomless soup is just perfect!

You may find some real cool beef noodles, especially in Penang (I’ll blog about the Beef Noodle at Beach Street Bomba Station soon!), but you’ll never find something like this, I believe. Definitely worth a visit, and re-visit… and re-visit!

Just tried it out and is really nice! a man who claimed that ‘he’s the man’ strongly recommended that if we’re new try the dried beef noodle first, next round only try soup version. The soup is nice!!
