Siddique, here you go! Sorry for the delay bro… Hope this post can drive you all the way to Penang for some taste of the legendary Nasi Kandar! More posts today!

What’s next? Let me bring to you my all-time-favourite Nasi Kandar or Nasi Melayu from Penang. The stall which serves arguably the best Nasi Kandar that I have been savouring the last 17 years. That’s really close to where I stay, yes it is Nasi Kandar Kampung Melayu. For health reasons, you might stomp at me for suggesting a Nasi Kandar place to eat for breakfast… but heck! I just eat because it taste so good and I will never miss it unless I fall sick, to be honest.

Still have a very clear picture in my mind, how I sacrificed my sleeping hours by waking up early just to “tapao” nasi kandar to school as my breakfast. By 6.30 a.m, it was already a long queue in the line! Well, things changed. They now operate another stall for the night session too at Medan Selera Farlim (if I am not wrong, it’s the one opposite Shell and Sin Kang School).

Well, you’ll anticipate a lot of students and working class people eating there on the weekdays and on the weekends, the queue lines are endless. Nevertheless they are efficient and you don’t have to wait long either. Unlike the Classic Hokkien Mee in Dato Keramat, dang! Nowadays, everytime I go back to Penang and if time permits, I’ll savour a plateful of Nasi Kandar Basah at around 10 a.m. Although it’s kinda near to their closing time, it’s still good despite lesser choice of dish. Honestly, whenever I am at One Utama Shopping Complex for some Japanese food, I am often left with problems deciding which place to eat. There’s simply too many choices!

Sushi King, Sushi Zanmai, Sushi Groove, Nippon Yataimura, Sakae Sushi, Shogun Saisaki, Shojikiya, Teppanyaki and Yoshinoya… Make your choice, please.

Many a time, I am way too hungry and I opted to go to the nearest one. This time, Dear selected Sushi Groove. Coincidently, it’s our post-valentine dinner. Ooo, I totally enjoyed the ambience.

A familiar sight, the restaurant is pretty much empty during weekdays. Don’t ask me why, but I like the privacy there… and the friendly-&-prompt services.

If KL got nice Thai style seafood at Nong & Jimmy, in Penang we have Khuntai! It’s not a new place but certainly a well known place among Penangites, especially for those who live in Butterworth. Desmond-t had been to this restaurant for more than 5 times previously but unfortunately they were all camera-less dining experience. Recently during the 2nd day of CNY, Desmond-t joined Bi’s family for a feast in this Khuntai Thai Seafood Restaurant.

*Desmond-t always bring to you honest reviews - this time, do expect a rather negative food review*

It’s my 4th year in KL and finally I made my way to Kuala Selangor famous firefly reserve. There’s only a few places in Malaysia where fireflies are spotted in large numbers and this is one of them (apart of Nibong Tebal and another one in Negeri Sembilan, as what I know).

Finally, back to a Malaysian food post this time. Another interesting note this time is that you will need to further cook your food at this restaurant in order to enjoy the best taste which suites your liking.

Desmond-t brings to you The Pepper Lunch Restaurant at The Pavilion, KL. Strategically located directly opposite J.Co Donuts which is very close to the Food Republic giant food court, I was lucky enough to be the first few customers of this brand NEW restaurant. Read the rest of this entry »
